The Midland Hotel in Manchester is an iconic building in the center of Manchester next to the railway station being one of the old railway hotels.
We were not involved in the brief Charles Leon was given for this project but had it been to preserve the grandeur and integrity of such a fantastic building he certainly achieved it.
The building has been used for many TV scenes including TV thrillers and soaps like Coronation Street but recently a whole series of documentaries were made about the hotel and its search for Michelin stars.
The designs for the bedrooms were adventurous with man-made veneers, images from around Manchester, High-Tech flaps and drawers and sumptuous sofas and chairs. The look was dramatic but by the success of the hotel it appears to have worked.
